Haywood County is considered to be the 'gateway' to The Great Smoky Mountains. Once you come to Haywood County, North Carolina, you will not want to leave. The Maggie Valley and Waynesville mountains in the fall are so colorful it is amazing. (Like a big ole` bowl of fruit loops!) The air smells clean and you can see for miles and miles off of any peak. In the winter, there is snow skiing and tubing, warm cozy fires, and family bonding time. On some days, the mountains look like they are covered in frosted glass with rainbow shimmers. WOW! Springtime in 'The Smokies' is awesome! Spring showers bring rainbows over Cataloochee Valley. The wildflowers are blossoming, making a hike a colorful pleasure while the cool air is fresh and fragrant. The leaves are budding and wildlife is emerging from everywhere. Summers are not too hot and not too cool. Streams and rivers flow down the mountainside offering fishing, swimming and a variety of wildlife activity to keep your interest. The local towns including Waynesville, Canton and Clyde offer up different festivals and entertainment.
